Why use a professional translator?
Below is a small comparison between the translations of Deepl, one of the world's best online translating services and our own translations of technical legal terms:
1 / Your foreign judgment is not enforceable if it is contrary to public policy.
According to Deepl this is politique publique. Our translation: l'ordre publique.
2 / Your memorandum mentions an interim attachment.
Deepl : Pièce jointe provisoire. L&S : Saisie conservatoire.
3 / Your contract refers to a trust.
Deepl : Fiducie. L&S : Trust (in italics), given the trust has different legal elements to the French fiducie.
In sum, despite the advancement of technology, it's always better to use the services of qualified, professional translators.
